Recovering an account that got marked blown by mistake
Sometimes PropStax marks an account as blown when the broker actually didn’t end it — usually after a sync that captured a brief intraday drop below the liquidation level on a trailing-drawdown account. If the broker is still letting you trade the account, you can put it back to active.
How this happens
PropStax sets blown automatically when a broker sync shows the account balance below the liquidation level. That’s the safe default — most of the time the broker has also liquidated and you want PropStax to reflect reality.
But edge cases exist:
- Datafeed glitch — the broker reported a momentarily wrong balance, then corrected it on the next sync.
- Cushion handling — some brokers have an unposted cushion above the auto-liquidation line that PropStax doesn’t know about yet, so it flips early.
- Broker reinstated the account — the broker liquidated, then decided to put the account back, but PropStax still has the blown status from the first sync.
In all three cases, the broker is now returning healthy data for the account but PropStax shows blown. Fix it manually.
How to change the status back
- Open the Account detail page for the account.
- Look for the pencil icon next to the status pill in the header — it’s always there, regardless of the current status.
- Click it. A popup opens with a status dropdown.
- Pick Active.
- Save.
PropStax sets the status back to active, clears the end date, and the account immediately starts appearing in your active lists again. Future syncs will continue updating it normally.
What gets cleared, what stays
When you flip back to active:
- Status flips to
active. - End date clears (the account is no longer “done”).
- Frozen-at timestamp clears.
- Tags stay where they are.
- Cost and payout history stays intact — those aren’t lifecycle-dependent.
- Trade history and snapshots stay intact.
So you’re not losing anything. You’re just telling PropStax “this account is back in play.”
If it keeps re-flipping to blown
If PropStax keeps flipping the account back to blown on every sync, something’s wrong with the data — likely the broker is still reporting a balance below the liquidation level. Some possibilities:
- The liquidation rule PropStax has for that broker is wrong (it’s stricter than the broker’s actual rule).
- The broker is reporting an incorrect balance and you’re reactive in PropStax faster than the broker is correcting.
Either way: contact support via Settings → Help & support with the account ID. We’ll look at the data we pulled and either fix the rule or wait for the broker to correct.
