Missing accounts: what to do
Sometimes you’ll go to sync a broker and PropStax notices that an account it tracked before isn’t in the fresh broker list. That triggers the Missing accounts prompt before the account picker opens.
You have four buttons per missing account:
- Keep — the broker dropped this account from the list, but I’m not done with it yet. Maybe a payout is pending, maybe it’s a broker glitch, maybe you expect it to come back. PropStax leaves the account active and won’t ask about it again on the next sync (until something changes).
- Passed — the account passed its evaluation. PropStax marks it passed and moves it to your inactive list.
- Blown — the account was terminated. PropStax marks it blown.
- Closed — the account is closed for any other reason. PropStax marks it closed.
A single Termination date input at the top of the prompt applies to every Passed / Blown / Closed click in this batch. Defaults to today; back-date it if the missing accounts actually ended earlier and you want the dates on the records to be accurate.
Once every missing account is resolved, the prompt closes and the account picker opens normally.
Already-terminal accounts that are still being returned
Sometimes a broker keeps returning an account you’ve already marked Passed, Blown, Closed, or Expired — the broker hasn’t dropped it yet, but you’ve told PropStax it’s done. The account picker shows these inline in the Available list with an (Inactive — status) chip next to the name, so you can see them but they’re not pre-ticked. You can still tick one if you want PropStax to re-sync it (and rewrite the terminal status from broker data).
Why brokers “drop” accounts
Broker behavior varies. Some brokers drop blown accounts from their API immediately. Others keep them returnable for days, and then drop them out of the blue. Some brokers will drop accounts during a payout process and bring them back. PropStax can’t tell the reason — only that the account stopped being returned — which is why we ask you to classify it.
If you’re not sure why an account disappeared, Keep is the safe choice. You can always come back and update the status later from the Account detail page.
The post-sync version
Sometimes a missing account isn’t caught before the sync runs — for instance, if you picked the account explicitly and the broker returned an error mid-sync. In that case the same Keep/Passed/Blown/Closed buttons appear on the post-sync summary screen, with the same effect.
