When to use Import vs. Sync

The simple rule: Sync brings in live broker data. Import is for accounts you can no longer sync.

If your broker still offers a data feed for the account, use Sync. PropStax pulls your balances, trade history, and account status directly.

Use Import when:

  • The account is closed and the broker no longer offers a feed for it.
  • The broker doesn’t support a PropStax data feed at all (some legacy or boutique brokers).
  • You’re backfilling old evaluations from before you signed up for PropStax.

Import is also Pro-only. If you’re on the Free or Beta tier, you’ll see a notice when you visit the page.
