Status: active, passed, blown, closed

Every account in PropStax carries one of four statuses. The status pill on the account header — and the colored chip everywhere else accounts appear — tell you which one.

Some statuses flip automatically when broker data crosses a threshold. Some you set yourself. PropStax never auto-flips a passed or active account without asking you first.

The four statuses

  • active — currently trading. Sync updates the balance, P&L, and liquidation buffer on every refresh. Active accounts show up in the Active section on the Brokers and Broker detail pages.
  • passed — hit the profit target and you’ve kept the result. Sync no longer updates the trading metrics; the account is frozen at its passing state.
  • blown — balance fell below the broker’s liquidation level. Same freeze behavior as passed — final values are preserved, no further trading updates.
  • closed — ended for any other reason. You stopped trading, the subscription lapsed, the broker shut you out for a rule violation — anything that isn’t passed or blown. Same freeze behavior.

Passed, blown, and closed accounts move to the Inactive section. They stay in your history; you can still review the trade stats, financials, and analytics on them.

What flips automatically

PropStax flips an account on its own in only two cases:

  • activeblown when a sync shows the balance below the liquidation level. This one is unconditional — the data is truth.
  • activepassed is suggested by the post-sync Account Reconciliation prompt when the balance crosses the profit-target threshold (account size + profit target). The prompt shows you the account and the suggestion and asks Yes or No. Nothing changes until you confirm.

The prompt also surfaces the reverse situations: an account marked blown that’s now showing healthy trading data (likely a datafeed glitch or broker reinstatement), or a passed account whose balance has since drifted back below the target. Each is labeled clearly (REINSTATED, BLOWN, or STILL TRADING) and you confirm or reject the same way.

What you set yourself

The pencil icon next to the status pill on the Account detail header is always visible. Click it to open the status-edit popup, then pick the new status. Terminal statuses (passed, blown, closed) take an end date — defaults to today, but you can back-date it if the account actually ended earlier.

The Brokers > Broker detail page also has bulk status editing. Click the Edit status button in either section header (Active or Inactive), tick the accounts to change, and pick the new status from the popup — useful for marking off a batch of accounts that ended around the same time.

Suggesting a status without applying it

If PropStax suggests PASSED and you don’t agree (most often: your profit target was entered wrong during the sync wizard), click No on that row in the reconciliation prompt. A short note appears reminding you that you can correct the profit target on the Account detail page. The next sync re-checks against the corrected target.
