Re-syncing & adding more accounts

There is nothing separate to learn here. The Sync wizard is the same whether it is the first time or the fiftieth. Run it whenever you want fresh balances, new trades, or to add accounts you didn’t sync the first time.

What gets refreshed

Each sync pulls:

• Current balances for all the accounts you select.
• New trading days since the last sync.
• Account status — if your broker reports an account as passed, blown, or removed, PropStax updates it.

What doesn’t change

• Costs and payouts you’ve logged manually.
• Custom account names you set via the rename popup.
• Tags you applied.
• Any historical data you bulk-imported.

If a sync is taking a while

Most syncs finish in well under a minute. Brokers do occasionally go slow or stop responding mid-sync, though, and the wizard tells you when that happens rather than leaving you watching a spinner.

• “Your broker didn’t respond in time — retrying (attempt 2 of 3)…” — the broker went quiet and PropStax is having another go on its own. You don’t need to do anything. This usually succeeds on the next attempt.
• “This is taking longer than expected” — PropStax has stopped waiting. The sync may still land on its own, so check your accounts in a few minutes before doing anything else. If the data isn’t there, use Try again.
• “Lost contact with the sync” — your connection to PropStax dropped while the sync was running. The sync itself may have finished fine; check your accounts, and use Try again if it didn’t.

In all three cases it’s safe to run the sync again. Syncing the same period twice never duplicates trades or double-counts your balance — PropStax matches up what it already has.

Accounts synced in part

Sometimes a sync saves an account without all of its data, for example when the broker doesn’t answer for a few days of history. The finish screen then says so:

• The account is listed under synced in part, with the first day that’s incomplete.
• The ⓘ beside it says what was left out and what happens next, one line per reason, such as Some days of trades could not be read; the next sync reads them again.
• The summary line counts these accounts, for example 3 accounts synced · 1 in part.

Most of these fill in on their own: the next sync reaches back to the first incomplete day. Until then, those days may be missing from the account’s figures.

Adding accounts you haven’t synced before

If your broker has more than 5 active accounts on your login, you can only sync 5 at a time. To bring in the rest, just run Sync again and pick a different set (Sync again on the finish screen takes you straight back to the first screen). PropStax will detect that some are already tracked and just refresh those alongside the new ones.

Neither plan limits how many accounts you track or re-sync. A paused account (an ended trial, or a canceled plan past its period) cannot sync, re-syncs included, until you choose a plan; the wizard says so on its first step.

Why Rithmic and DxFeed re-prompt every time

Tradovate uses OAuth — a standard way to grant PropStax access without sharing your password. That means we can hold a token safely and reuse it.

Rithmic and DxFeed don’t offer OAuth. The only way through those feeds is to use your username and password directly. We made the call to never store them, so credentials can’t leak from PropStax. The tradeoff is re-entering them on each sync. You’re not doing anything wrong by being prompted again.
