Exporting your data

Everything PropStax holds about you is exportable, on demand, without asking anyone. What you do with it afterward is your business.

Where to download

Go to Settings → Privacy, under Download your data. Each file is built for you and saved by your browser when it is ready; the button shows Preparing… until then.

Download everything

Download everything (.zip) is one zip with all of your data, for every broker, prop and personal:

Financials, Snapshots and Trades, the same files the targeted downloads give you for all brokers. The Trades file here has one more column, Pictures, naming the pictures on each trade’s and position’s journal entries.
Records: your account list, every cost itemized, your day notes and your journal entries.
A journal folder with your journal as Markdown files, one for each entry and day note (see Journal files).
An images folder with the pictures on your journal entries, each named for its trade or position.
A manifest workbook listing each picture with its account, day and the journal file it belongs to.

The zip has the same shape whether or not you have pictures.

Download your journal

Journal (.zip), under Journal, is your journal alone: the same journal and images folders and the manifest, for every broker.

Targeted downloads

Pick a broker, or All firms, then choose Financials, Snapshots or Trades. Each is an Excel workbook.

What each file holds

Financials

Summary comes first: your totals by year, a row per prop broker (what you spent and were paid out, your evaluations and fundeds), and a row per personal account (deposits, withdrawals, fees and trading fees).
Payouts: every payout, oldest first, with the net paid out per year beside it.
A sheet per prop broker: its accounts, one row per dated cost, oldest first, with the costs per year beside them. A cost with no date is written with the day it was imported, so this file counts it in that year.
Broker costs: costs you entered for a broker rather than an account, when you have any.
Ledger and Recurring: every deposit, withdrawal and fee on your personal accounts, and your recurring entries.

Snapshots

Three sheets, Evaluation, Funded (straight-to-funded accounts included) and Personal, each with one row per account per trading day, oldest first: net and gross P&L, commission, contracts, trades, the symbols traded, gross profit and loss, balance and cumulative P&L.

Where PropStax has no contract count for a day, the cell is empty and the row’s Note says so. An empty cell is never a zero.

Trades

One row per execution, for both books:

Personal accounts: every fill, as your broker reported it. Its Fee is its share of the fees on the trades it’s part of: on Tradovate the commission and exchange, clearing and NFA fees, on CQG and Rithmic the rates you declared. A fill in a position that’s still open, or in a trade whose fees aren’t known yet, has no fee. A fill that was later replaced, by a statement or by your broker’s feed, is listed too, with no fee, and its Status says so.
Prop accounts: each round trip as two rows, its open and its close. The close carries the trade’s gross, commission and net.

Every row has the account, the contract, the side, the quantity, the price, the time in UTC, the trading day and the ids your broker gave it. Rows are grouped by account, oldest first within each.

Records

In Download everything only:

Account list: every account, with the broker, type, status, size and dates, and what you set on it (tags, notes, buffer, profit split).
Costs: every cost, one row each, with its category and description. A cost with no date has an empty Date and comes after the dated ones.
Notes: your day notes.
Journal: your trade and position entries, with the account, the day, the trade or position each belongs to, its tags, and its pictures’ names.

A sync never brings back what you typed or set yourself: your notes and journal entries, your tags, your costs, and an account’s notes, buffer and profit split. These sheets hold them. A note’s text stays in one cell; if it runs to several lines, turn on text wrapping in your spreadsheet to see all of it.

Journal files

In Download everything and Journal (.zip), each journal entry and day note is a Markdown file of its own, in the journal folder, by book and month. A file is named for the day it’s about, then its kind and symbol: 2026-09-15-position-MESZ6-81cf57.md, or 2026-09-15-day-note.md for a day note.

At the top, the entry’s details: its book, kind and day, the account and broker, the symbol, its tags, and when it was written and last edited.
Then the entry as you wrote it, with its sections and formatting.
Then its pictures, each shown in the file and opening the picture itself when clicked.

Unzip the whole download, then open a file in any app that reads Markdown; the pictures show because the images folder sits beside the journal folder. A link or a picture address you typed into an entry is live in those apps, where PropStax shows it as text.

Re-importing

Only Financials can be imported back: see Edit and re-upload your own export.

Filenames and large files

Each file is date-stamped (ending in YYYY-MM-DD), and a targeted file for one broker carries the broker’s name too, so files never overwrite each other. A file too large for one workbook comes as a zip of numbered parts (-part-1-of-3 and on), each a workbook of its own.

How long it takes

A few seconds for most. A long history, or many pictures, can take a few minutes. Keep the page open until the file downloads.
