Tag library

Settings → Preferences → Tag library is where you manage every tag you’ve used — one library, shared by your accounts and your day notes.

Your tag list

Every tag you’ve ever used shows up as a chip, in its color, in one line in alphabetical order. Click a chip and its menu opens under it: how many accounts carry the tag and how many day notes and journal entries do, the color palette, and Delete tag. Click anywhere else, or press Escape, to close the menu.

Creating a tag

Type a name in the Add tag input at the top of the library, pick a color, and press Enter or click Add tag. Names are 1 to 64 characters and stored lowercased.

You don’t strictly have to create tags here first — typing any new tag name in the Tags input on an Account detail page, in the note editor on a day page, or in the per-row tag input on the Bulk-create wizard, will create it in the library automatically. The library page is for editing what’s already there.

Recoloring a tag

Click the tag, then a color in its menu. The menu closes and the tag’s color updates everywhere it’s used instantly, on accounts and notes alike.

Deleting a tag

Click the tag, then Delete tag in its menu, then Delete to confirm. This removes the tag from the library, from every account carrying it, and from every day note and journal entry carrying it. There’s no undo.

The menu tells you how many accounts use the tag and how many notes (day notes and journal entries together); the message after deleting reports both counts.

A tag on more than five hundred notes and entries is removed five hundred at a time: the message says the delete isn’t finished and the tag stays in the library, and deleting it again continues where it stopped.

If a tag can’t be removed from something, the message says so and the tag stays on it. Re-adding the tag and deleting it again retries.

If you just want to remove a tag from one account, do it from the Account detail page’s Tags row instead — that only un-tags the one account and leaves the tag in your library. Same for a note: remove the tag in the note editor.
