AI apps

Connect an AI app such as Claude or ChatGPT to PropStax, and you can ask it about your trading in your own words: how last week went, which evaluation is closest to passing, what fees cost you this month. The app reads your PropStax data to answer. It can only read: it can’t trade, change anything, or see your broker logins.

AI apps are part of Pro, the free trial included. On Basic, or while your account is paused, Settings → AI apps says why it can’t connect and how to change that.

What an AI app can read

You choose when you approve the app:

WhatWhen
Accounts and their rules, trades, daily P&L and balancesAlways
Payouts, costs and personal cashOnly if you turn it on
Your journalOnly if you turn it on

Both switches start off. An AI app never gets your email address, your password, or your broker logins.

Connect an app

Every app needs the same address. Settings → AI apps shows it under Server address, with a Copy button:

https://mcp.propstax.com/mcp

Claude

On claude.ai or in Claude’s desktop app:

  1. Open Customize → Connectors.
  2. Click + Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Name it PropStax, paste the address, and click Continue. Click Continue again on the settings Claude found.
  4. Under Authentication, choose Sign in now. If Claude shows OAuth client, choose Register automatically.
  5. Click Add, then sign in to PropStax and approve it: see Approving the app.

To use it in a chat, click +, then Connectors, and turn PropStax on. A connector added on the web or the desktop app works in Claude’s phone apps too.

On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds PropStax once under Organization settings → Connectors, and then each person clicks Connect next to it under Customize → Connectors. Claude’s free plan allows one custom connector.

If Claude’s menus have moved, Anthropic’s help article has the current steps.

Claude Code

Run this once in a terminal:

Terminal window
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user propstax https://mcp.propstax.com/mcp

Then, in Claude Code, type /mcp, pick propstax and choose Authenticate. Sign in to PropStax and approve it: see Approving the app.

If Claude Code is signed in to your Claude account, a connector you added on claude.ai is already in its /mcp list, so you can skip the command.

ChatGPT

ChatGPT lets you add an app like this on some plans only, on chatgpt.com and not in its phone apps.

  1. Go to Plugins.
  2. Click +, then Add custom MCP server.
  3. Name it PropStax and paste the address under Connection. If it asks how the app signs in, choose OAuth.
  4. Tick I understand and want to continue, then click Create as a plugin.
  5. Sign in to PropStax and approve it: see Approving the app.

To use it, start a new chat, type @ and pick PropStax.

If ChatGPT’s menus have moved, OpenAI’s help article has the current steps and the plans that can use them.

Gemini, Grok and other AI apps

Any AI app that can add a remote MCP server with sign-in, such as the Gemini app or Grok, can use the same address. Add it where the app adds connectors or MCP servers, then sign in to PropStax and approve it.

Approving the app

When you connect, the app opens a PropStax page in your browser.

  1. Sign in to PropStax. The page always asks once, even if you’re signed in already: it’s how PropStax checks it’s you before an app reads your data. Opening it also signs out any other PropStax tabs you have open. If a different PropStax account was signed in on this browser, signing in with yours opens your dashboard instead. Connect again from the app, and this time the approval comes after the sign-in.
  2. The page names the app that’s asking and lists what it can read. Turn on Payouts, costs and personal cash or Your journal if you want the app to read them.
  3. Click Allow, and the tab sends you back to the app. Don’t allow sends you back with nothing shared.

PropStax asks every time you connect an app, even one you’ve connected before.

Disconnecting

Settings → AI apps lists every app you’ve allowed under Connected apps. Click Disconnect next to one and confirm. The app can’t renew its access after that, and the access it already holds runs out within eight hours.

To change what an app can read, disconnect it here, then connect it again from the app and choose the switches again.

Removing PropStax inside the AI app doesn’t end the connection on PropStax’s side, so disconnect it here too. Deleting your PropStax account disconnects every app.

Answers can be wrong

The answers come from the AI app, not from PropStax. An AI can misread a figure or get a calculation wrong even when the data it read is right, so check anything that matters against PropStax itself, and against your broker’s and prop firm’s own records. What an AI app tells you isn’t trading advice.

The app’s provider, such as Anthropic for Claude or OpenAI for ChatGPT, handles what the app reads under its own terms. The Terms of Service (section 5.6) and the Privacy Policy (section 4.6) have the details.
