Appearance & preferences

Settings → Preferences is where you control how PropStax looks. The Appearance card holds seven settings, and each one takes effect the moment you pick it — there’s nothing to save.

Four of them follow your account across devices: Theme, Color base, Info tooltips and Status tags. The other three — Text size, Calendar layout and the Prop | Personal switch on phones — are remembered in the browser you’re using, so set them again on another computer.

Theme

Choose Light, Dark, or Black:

Light — a bright background for well-lit rooms.
Dark — a dark gray background, easy on the eyes (the default).
Black — a true-black background, best for OLED screens and low light.

Your theme follows your account across devices. Set it on your laptop and it’s already applied the next time you sign in on another computer.

There’s also a quick theme switch near the bottom of the left sidebar if you’d rather flip it without opening Settings. On mobile, the same picker is in the controls tab on the right edge of the screen (tap the tab, then Theme). Wherever you change it, all three stay in step — they’re the same setting.

Color base

The color base is the family of colors every theme is built from. It’s a separate choice from Light/Dark/Black, and the two combine: pick Emerald, and you get an emerald light theme, an emerald dark theme and an emerald black theme. Ten are available, listed in the picker in spectrum order:

Slate — cool gray-blue. The default, and the closest to how PropStax has always looked.
Pink — blush pink. The warmest ground in the set.
Clay — terracotta. Warm earth in light, fired clay in dark.
Sand — warm neutral. Paper in light, leather in dark.
Moss — yellow-green, the warm edge of the greens.
Emerald — mint navigation over pale grounds. Matches the website.
Ocean — blue-teal navigation over cool grounds.
Indigo — deep blue-violet, the quietest of the dark bases.
Purple — violet, between Indigo and Magenta.
Magenta — soft magenta. Pink in light, deep in dark.

Each row in the picker carries a color bar showing that base in your current theme, so what you see on the bar is what you get.

Your profit and loss colors do not change. Green is still profit and red is still a loss on every base, including Emerald — the base colors the navigation and the page behind your data, not the figures in it. Cards stay neutral so the numbers keep the contrast they need.

Your color base follows your account across devices, the same way your theme does. If it can’t be saved to your account, the choice still applies on the device you’re using and a message tells you it didn’t sync.

One change landed with this setting that applies on every base, including Slate: the highlight on the active page in the sidebar, the active section in Settings and the selected calendar view no longer use the profit green. Green now means money and nothing else. The PropStax logo also became multicolor, as it already was on this site and the main one.

Text size is saved in this browser only — unlike your theme, it doesn’t follow you to other devices. Set it again if you switch computers.
On a phone the steps are smaller, so the compact layout keeps its shape. The same picker is in the controls tab on the right edge of the screen (tap the tab, then Text size), and it stays in step with this one.

Info tooltips

The small ⓘ beside a heading or a figure explains it: hover over it, or tap it on a phone. Choose Show (the default) to keep them, or Hide to take every ⓘ off every page. The hover boxes on calendar days and charts are not ⓘs and stay as they are.

This choice follows your account across devices, like your theme. If it can’t be saved to your account, it goes back and a message says so.

Prop | Personal switch on phones

On a phone the Prop | Personal switch lives in the More menu. Choose Left or Right and it also sits on the top line of every page, on that side, so you can flip books without opening the menu; Off keeps it in the menu alone. The two are one control: flip either and the other follows. It only appears once you have a personal account, and it is saved in this browser only, like Text size, so set it on the phone itself. On a desktop the switch is always in the top bar.

Calendar layout

Controls how the Calendar is laid out:

Auto — picks the phone-style layout on small screens and the full desktop layout on tablets and up. This is the default and suits most people.
Mobile — always use the compact, phone-style calendar, even on a big screen.
Desktop — always use the full desktop calendar. On a phone the whole month is scaled down to fit the screen, so everything is small, including the tap targets; pinch to zoom in on a week.

Like text size, this choice is remembered in your current browser.

Status tags on the calendar

On the Prop calendar’s Trading P&L view, PropStax marks the days on which accounts passed or were blown and the days with a payout (see Calendar views). Use Show tags to switch every mark off, or leave it on and switch off Blown, Passed or Paid-Out one at a time.

This choice follows your account across devices, like your theme. If it can’t be saved to your account, the switch goes back and a message says so.
